#30 In the World

I'm sure there are perfectly logical and technological reasons to why this blog is "exceptionally popular"; just don't tell me. (via OhGizmo!)

You're Fired

They're taking this foreign talent thing a bit too far. I wonder if it's from the same place we call on whenever we need a dirty job done.

I Love DC

Growing up and even now, I've always preferred DC comics. Long before there were dedicated comic stores, they were usually sold at the nearest mama shop. Comics were always my preferred treat over the other sweets and snacks when I was little. Although I usually point to a superhero title (Superman), for some unknown reason at the time my Mom always end up picking a Richie Rich or Casper. I have since found out that this guy was to blame.

Discovered something interesting today. The designer of the previous logo used for 30 years also designed another classic logo.

Blog This Way

The law wants all of us to blog this way.

Best. Christmas. Lights. Ever.

Can the "relevant authorities" please hire this chap to redo this year's lame-o Orchard Road Christmas lights? [via Engadget]

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Snapped this yesterday at a convention:

Coincidentally in today's Today:

Confirms my suspicions on both counts.

All That Glitters is...

Available in Japan now, adding to the existing eight colours I counted. I want one in Donkey Kong Orange, what colour would you like for the DS?

Suspicious Package II

There was another package in my inbox today!!? After checking my diary and confirmed that I've paid my monthly ah long instalments, I decided to open the envelope (very carefully).

WOW!! Caringly protected in bubble wrap was my FAVOURITE Cherry Ripe candy bar! Drawn initially to it's bright red packaging at supermarket and newsagent checkout aisles, it immediately became my favourite while I was studying in Australia. It's not so common here, but the ice-cream version is available in some places.

The combination of coconut, cherry and chocolate tastes just right!
Blogging really has it's benefits!

Don't Cry - Naked

Surfaced by a music lover from a local forum, a great song by local band Naked (not G'N'R hor) from the days of BigO magazine. Unfortunately both are now defunct.

Don't Cry

Winter comes for a reason
to purge your soul
with the change of the seasons
I spin out of control
Where can I find you
when you're not even there
no where to find you
Innocent eyes are blinded
when the candle dies

Put your arms around him
there'll be no sleep tonight

How can I help you,
when you're so far away?
No way to help you...Should I pray?
Don't cry, wipe the tears from your eyes
don't cry, sleep with the souls tonight

There's no where to run, no where to hide
fear is a monster, no end in sight
no screaming, silent screaming
tonight close your eyes, dream
There's no where to run, no where to hide
fear is a monster, no end in sight
no screaming , scream it away
tonight, close your eyes and pray.

Lunch at Istana

Highlight of yesterday afternoon was the Investiture for Commendation, Efficiency and Long Service Medals at the Istana. It was commendable that the ceremony was efficiently over in minutes after a long wait. The buffet line formed just as efficiently and service of course took a while.

Only remember visiting the Istana once when I was tiny, probably during the open house of a public holiday.

Singapore Marathon

Yes I’ve started "training", but I’ll probably be closer to flatline than the finish line on the day.

EDGE

It may be true never to judge a book by it’s cover, but with a limited shelf-life magazines have only their covers (and all of 3 seconds) to persuade casual readers to spend their coin. The most well-designed and written gaming magazine I’ve read is EDGE. As soon as I spotted the latest issue I had to get it.

The Last Bag

Your gadget is ubiquitous when

it can play Doom.

Plastic Surgery

Isn’t it a bit too early to be talking about restyling the DS? Yeah it’s a little thick, but still portable and I like that it feels solid in my hands. The Gameboy (all 101 versions) is probably the lone cashcow in Nintendo’s field, but do they already have to start squeezing the DS teat? It hints of a rushed release and disrespect to fans when it’s VP says, “As soon as [the DS] was launched, we started looking at ways to tweak it visually."

Love the marketing though.

T'was a Dark and Stormy Night

There was a sudden downpour just as I reached the foot of my block last night. It rained so hard I started to imagine that this could be what it's like if a hurricane hit. In such weather I'll usually think of loved ones and hope they are home or under shelter, or at least have an umbrella.

A flash of lightning, then the lights in the void deck and staircase went out while I was waiting for the lift. I've never been happier than to be given a chance to use the twin-LED light on my k750i, as it illuminated the way as I took to the stairs. The light function is just too cool, it even comes with a SOS mode - I'm sure it'll come in handy someday.

Also just got a 512mb card for my phone from the hardwarezone forum. It was part of a deal for 2 cards, so I got Jane to take one. So we're both happy now!

Ooh Yes please I'll have one of this

I can imagine this being a such pleasure to use. Looks like the calculators we used in school, and comes with a similar folding holder. And I bet it doesn't smell like the RAZR.

The Second Coming?

23 reasons to hold onto your pennies first for Xbox360. I'm suffering from console fatigue, so I'll wait for the official launch here.

Fruit Through a Straw

If you happen to drop by, come to the Hawker Center at Holland Drive market to get a taste of the thickest papaya milkshake I've ever had. It's so thick it's like sucking a papaya through a straw.
